Rutherford County is served by US Highways 64, 74, and 221. US-74 provides convenient access to Interstates 26 and 85, as well as one of the most scenic and least congested major thoroughfares in the state. US-64 and US-221 offer additional access to I-40 and I-85, as well as to scenic retreats such as Lake Lure and North Carolina ski resorts. US-74 Business serves as a connector for the Tri-Cities area of Forest City, Spindale, and Rutherfordton. We’re literally in the middle of everything here in Rutherford County. The Charlotte, NC metro area is about an hour’s drive to the east, while Asheville, NC is about an hour to the northwest. Greenville/Spartanburg, SC can be reached in under an hour, while going another hour due south will take you to the Columbia, SC metro area. Even the Atlanta, GA metro area is just an easy three hour drive from here.
